Pentaerythritol 98% is a polyhydric alcohol with the CAS number 115-77-5. Common names include 2,2-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol and Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)methane. For the commercial grade described here, a purity of at least 98% is customary.
